Aviation inspiration

When I was a little girl, we had a guest speaker in my 7th grade class, she was an aviator traveling around the world. It was of-course not Amelia Earhart, considering I am 25. However this young women with such dedication changed my young mind forever, and started a very healthy obsession with all things related to aviation, and with that came the amazing Amelia Earhart.

And so, when I found myself doodling this image from a magazine I thought it appropriate to add to the the blog portfolio.

Then, I thought I should share with everyone my first memory of aviation.
In the late 1950's my Grandfather and a small team built this research and expirimental aircraft, model VZ 7AP, commissioned by the government to Curtiss Wright Corp (santa Barbara division). This plane was an over-all military aerial jeep concept, it was highly maneuverable, easily controlled about all 3 axes without use of stability augmenting equipment, it could hover in or out of ground effect, translate in any direction, and fly at speeds comparable to ground vehicles. Cool right......Well I grew up staring at pictures of this hover craft in my Mom's office, and although the military never put it to use, it was pretty amazing to me.

I have fallen in LOVE. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is a 1940's fly fisherman's jacket. The most amazing piece. You can expect an illustration of it soon to be fallowed by my rendition of the actual piece, the perfect jacket for Fall in California.

Illustration of my grandmother's skirt, redone in chambray. The actual skirt coming soon.
